About the Buttercycle

The late Ben Davidson, renowned Haida Gwaii artist and CASA champion, created the Buttercycle originally in 2014 for a cycle tour from Haida Gwaii to Edmonton.  It was brought to CASA in 2015 for our very first Cycle Tour and continues to hold great meaning to all participants of our Minds Over Mountains Cycle Tours.

As we celebrate 10 years of the creation of the Buttercycle, we celebrate that wearing this symbol, on cycling jerseys and showcasing it throughout the cycle tour, is a profound act of honoring the resilience of children and families facing mental health challenges. Each time cyclists don this emblem, they carry not only the spirit of Ben with them, but also the weight of collective empathy and support towards our CASA children and families.

This Buttercycle will continue to be a badge of honour for all that don it, as well as an inspiration to all who hold it close to their hearts.
